Yes, the child has to hold its breath in these Spiritual Breathing Exercises. However the time of holding the breath (Kumbhak) is very nominal. Also the child has to hold its breath within his or her individual capacity. It has been observed that even children of the age of 10 or 12 years can comfortably hold their breath without any harmful side effects.
Try this simple test. Lift one end of a heavy piece of furniture or a heavy bucket full of water. Notice that the most natural thing to do is to hold your breath. Then try to lift the piece of furniture or the heavy bucket again, WITHOUT holding your breath. You will find it much harder, perhaps impossible, if it is heavy enough.
There is a great mystery in our breathing and holding of our breath seems to give us more power in body as well as the mind.

Brahmavidya is not a medicine for restlessness, yet it is observed that after practicing these Breathing Exercises & Prayers regularly, restlessness tends to decrease. |

Yes. Some of our students have reported that these Exercises have actually helped them to relieve the pain and discomfort during this time. However if any discomfort is noticed the practice may be reduced or discontinued during this period.
The practice of Prayer should be continued even if Breathing Exercises are stopped during this period. |

Yes, when they are convinced about the teachings of Brahmavidya, when they actually see the improvement and when they experience the benefits, they take interest and practice regularly. Also, if their friends are practicing Brahmavidya it has an inspiring effect.
We appeal to all parents that they should encourage their children to regular practice. If the parents have not completed the Brahmavidya Basic Course, we suggest that they also should undergo this training and practice these methods. It will set a good example for children.

Brahmavidya is a profound system of Spiritual practice, teaching us the hidden laws of life. What is taught in the children’s course is bare minimum. To gain a better understanding of the Brahmavidya methods and benefit thereby the children are advised to undergo the Basic Course when they grow up and are eligible to join. |
